Gayab Mandir in Gujrat: The disappearing act
The Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple becomes more mysterious because it disappears and reappears near the sea. It’s located just a few meters from the shore. When the water is high (high tide), the temple goes underwater, but when the water is low (low tide), it comes back up. This happens twice every day as the sea level goes up and then comes back down.
According to records, when the water is high, the inner part of the temple, called the sanctum or garbha griha, goes completely underwater. Only the top part of the temple stays above the water during these times. This natural event makes the temple even more interesting and special. People from faraway places come to visit because they are curious about its spiritual importance and the way it connects with nature.
